Merkmale
Exemplare dieser Art erreichen eine LΓ€nge von ca. 58 cm und ein Gewicht von ca. 3 kg.cite-ref-3[3] Sie weisen eine dunkelbraune bis olivgrΓΌne FΓ€rbung mit kupferfarbenen und oft mattgelben Stellen auf. Das Seitenlinienorgan und darunterliegende Stellen sind fΓΌr gewΓΆhnlich weiΓ gefΓ€rbt und werden mit der Zeit kupferfarben.cite-ref-0-4-0[4]
Verbreitung, Lebensraum und Lebensweise
Den Lebensraum von Sebastes caurinus bilden temperierte KΓΌstengewΓ€sser des Pazifiks, wo er im Benthal an Felsenriffen bis zu einer Tiefe von bis zu 183 Metern auftritt.cite-ref-0-4-1[4]cite-ref-5[5]cite-ref-1-6-0[6] Dort stellt er bevorzugt Arthropoden, darunter meistens Krabben und Garnelen nach.cite-ref-7[7]cite-ref-8[8] Mit zunehmender GrΓΆΓe und somit auch Alter vertilgt er hauptsΓ€chlich andere Fische und Mollusken.cite-ref-1-6-1[6]
